Antique Opera/Sport binoculars C 1900 by Lemaire fabt of Paris. Original leather case silk lined, in very good worn/scuffed condition – handle moreso but still attached and usable. Gold edging very visible. Glasses carry the following marks – Made in France, serial no G36768, bee symbol, no. 21. Most others I’ve seen carry the no. 61/63 and a higher serial no, so these may indicate that it is an early model – ? 19th C ? The glasses are in excellent condition with little sign of wear – some black paint missing on a front lens surround and a tiny bit on one eyepiece. The lenses and mechanism are in perfect working order. The leather binding is in excellent condition. Size (case) L 110 mm W 50 mm H 70 mm approx.
