Excellent condition pair of Nikon Monarch 5 8×42 HD binoculars. Very little use, crystal clear optics utilising extra low dispersion glass (ED). Supplied with original tethered objective lens caps, eyepiece rainguard, quality Nikon neoprene strap, Nikon case with velcro flap fastening and belt loop, instruction manual, undated 10 year warranty card and original box. No damage or wear at all. These work perfectly and would be listed as new but for the fact that they have been used on a few occasions over the last year.
There is an ideally weighted central focusing dial with a close focus distance of 2.5m. A dioptre correction ring is situated on the right eyepiece to allow calibration for your own eyesight and any differences in vision focus between left and right eyes . The eye cups are multi-position ‘twist to raise’ design with intermediate locations to provide a range of eye relief distances, ensuring viewing comfort for use with spectacles.
This binocular was judged best in class in the Cornell lab of Ornithology review of 102 models in 2013. They were judged to be ‘Lightweight, well balanced, and comfortable in the hand’ and were only one of two models in their category featuring ED glass for improved light transmission and colour rendition. Monarch 5 binoculars are widely considered one of the best models available in their class. The internal prisms are treated with dielectric coatings for high light reflectivity and light transmission and phase correction coatings to help reduce chromatic aberrations in the image, towards the edge of the field of view.
The 8x magnification is ideal for bird watching and gives a steady image when hand held. The 42mm objective lenses provide plenty of light gathering capability for the beginning and end of the day. Overall weight is 590 grams.

Not the cheapest on offer on E-bay, but best value considering the all but new condition. The retail price for new is around 300.
