A pair of modern, extremely compact Nikon Mikron 6×15 CF binoculars, in the classic silver and black finish, and I am told they are what is called a classic Porro prism style of binocular, made by a quality manufacturer, and no one else manufactures anything of similar quality.
These attractive looking, iconic and legendary binoculars I am informed have been made by Nikon since about 1921, so for about a hundred years or so I think, and are a special 80 th. anniversary edition, and have been told that they differ from standard Nikon Mikrons in a variety of ways, such as the hinge screw is brass/gold coloured not steel, the box is gold and black coloured and the lenses had extra multi coatings applied to give an even brighter image. A truly rare opportunity to buy these binoculars, as Nikon Mikrons are very rare in the UK generally and the retail price if located is approximately 400.00 new, unless imported from Japan which is cheaper, but then you have to pay all the various customs duties and import taxes, or when importing a pair from Europe with import duty payable, which all works out about the same as the UK price.
Sold with all items as supplied new, with the Nikon brown coloured zippered carry pouch, a sachet of moisture absorbing desiccant, black cord neck lanyard, the original gold and black coloured retail packaging box, Nikon multi lingual instruction booklet, Nikon product guide booklet, Nikon warranty card, Nikon dealer record card stating the binoculars serial number which matches the number on the actual binoculars themselves, x2 push on Nikon plastic eye piece covers and x4 quality unused Zeiss lens wipes.
An exceedingly small pair of binoculars, to say they are pocket sized is an understatement as they would very easily not just fit into a trouser pocket but in small shirt pocket or handbag, beautifully engineered, and function as they should, with a smooth action central rotary focus control and dioptre adjustment on the right eyepiece.
Optically they give a nice, clear image as expected, and as a pair of binoculars are really super. Have a look at the numerous articles on the web about them, to gain an idea of the superb quality of this product, compared to the old versions of the same binocular.
They are very small, handy, and easy to use, not to mention very lightweight at around 130g only.
Approximate dimensions are:Height: 48mm.Width: 108mm.Depth: 36mm.
They are tiny !
Lightly used, have not been used in the rain nor dropped, and well looked after.
They are surplus to requirements and for sale, as are lying in a drawer unused, and are simply a great pair of binoculars to have, a pleasure to use without carrying around a large and heavy lump of metal.
Faults:The lenses need cleaning, as there is a piece of debris which can be seen when looking through the “wrong end” of the left hand side binocular objective lens – the one without the dioptre adjustable eye piece, it does not affect the use of the binoculars in normal use and normally can’t be seen. I have tried to take a photo of this using my mobile phone set on maximum magnification against a white piece of paper as a background, and it can be seen in the last photo in the upper left hand side, but was hard to capture the image.
