NICE “OFFICER OF THE WATCH” SINGLE DRAW TELESCOPE – PRE 1882. Made by Heath & Co London who secured many Naval contracts. Heath & Co became a ltd company in 1882. This one doesn’t bear the “Ltd” which dates it prior to 1882 and with a low serial number of 2670 I would imagine it dates to around 1850. Telescope is leather bound, original with nice tooling, all original stitching, just some age related scuffs. Metal work is nickel, all with a nice uncleaned patina. Single draw tube shows polished finish due to being drawn in and out. Eyepiece carries the swivel hinged protector. Optics are really clean. Closed 18inches, fully extended with hood extended 26inches. A nice honest piece.
