Not much gets me excited but all binoculars do. So to find this pair on the top shelf of a falling down shed, thick with dust, nearly knocked me over. These binoculars are Royal Navy type that were issued to Submariners during the Second World War. They are fixed focus, unlike the later marks that were fitted with wheel operated focussing system. They are stamped on both tunnel heads, on the left it says Bino Prism and on the right it has the broad arrow (Indicating War Department Property) and a capital B. The condition I would say, for the life they’ve lead, is very good they produce a good clear image up to 100 yards. There is some rubbing to the body which reveals they are made of an Aluminium Alloy. Quite rare to find. If you are into militaria especially binos then these are for you. On the top of the eyepieces you can see where the coating has worn off, no doubt caused by thousands of eyebrows and foreheads rubbing against them over the years. Thus putting to bed the idea that they might have had rubber eyepieces.
