“Improved Military Binoculars” Made by Chevalier opticien, Paris

There is a small compass built into the framework – still working as it should.

Everything works as one would hope.

They are manufactured from Brass, steel, leather and (as far as I can establish) bakelite eye pieces.

There are a number of makers marks on the binoculars

In French

on the bakelite eye pieces –  CHEVALIER OPTICIEN. PARIS

On the bridge bar – 8 VERRES

on each barrel – visible when extended – JUMELLE MILITAIRE PERFECTIONNEE

compass is marked N NE E SE S SO O NO

This translates to

they are worn in some areas. Notably scuffs and discolouration to the leather on one barrel

Some paint has worn off due to age and usage

There is a tiny amount of dust inside but they do unscrew for cleaning

They have the metal clips to attach a strap to.

They come in the original lined Leather case.

The case is complete including strap but in poor condition
