High quality Carl Zeiss Jena Jenoptem coated 8 x 30 wide-angle view binoculars with leather case & User booklet Made in DDR Germany Serial number 4151680 Weight without case approximately 540g Weight with case approximately 800g Size about 145mm wide x 110mm high Case size about 175mm x 125mm x 70mm These have had virtually no use as may be seen from the beautiful unmarked appearance of the binoculars and the genuine leather case. There is no wear in any of the mechanisms which move firmly and smoothly and once set, stay in place. The lenses have no scratches or scuffing and all of the black outer casing is in superb condition with no dings, dents or scratches. Complete with user instructions booklet, leather lanyard, leather case and strap. The combination of lens coating and 30mm object lens provide a very bright and sharp image, rapid focusing and the size and weight of the binoculars allow for fatigue-free use and the 8x magnification together with a wide angle of view is ideal for a multitude of uses. Spectacle wearers: Wearers of spectacles often find binoculars are much more comfortable to use when not wearing spectacles but if the left and right eye lens prescription have different dioptre values, focussing binoculars can be difficult when not wearing spectacles because there is no-longer correction in-place for the different requirement of each eye. These Zeiss Jena Jenoptem binoculars have dioptre compensation focusing (please see picture 5), which allows wearers of spectacle having different dioptre prescription values for the left and right eyes to use the binoculars either with or without their normal prescription spectacles. When used with spectacles the dioptre compensation is set to zero and without spectacles it is adjusted so as to compensate for any difference in the prescriptions for the left and right eyes. This allows for fatigue-free observation and a razor-sharp image for both eyes. The dioptre compensation adjustment is around the right eyepiece, is very quick and simple to set and once set for any user, it needs no further adjustment.
