TheHERTEL & REUSS OPTIK(ofKASSEL) OPTICScompany produced microscopes, telescopes and binoculars during the20thcentury before disappearing about 25 years ago. In1985 they had taken over the production of the large TORDALK highpowered porroprisms developed byCHRISTOPH,BECK & SOHNE (CBS)…andthis is what we have here, a HERTEL& REUSSTORDALK 11 x 80 porroprism binocular. Quite a beast, but not as heavyas you might expect and with only 11 x magnification it can be handheld at least for a while, although attaching it to a tripod ofmonopod would be a better bet.Thisone is mechanically good withthe dual focusing control working smoothly but with a slightly loosehinge anditisin acceptablycleancosmetic condition butwith plenty of evidenceof use. Theeyepieces are of the same pattern but one appears to be older thanthe otherand thereare someold internal cleaning marks. It has obviously been loved and valuedby someone and is still performing really well today producing sharpand bright views.Anadditional identification number has been scribed on the r.h.objective lens trim ring. Thereare some `spots` on the rear of the objective lenses, but the opticsare otherwise very clear with no significant debris or nasties. Thereis no case, lens caps or straps just the binocular.Defects:someloss of body coverings and general paint loss and wear around theexterior; eyepieces are not a perfect pair;some internal dust specks, hazeand spots on the rear of both objective lenses and some old cleaningmarks.itake great care examining, using and describing the binoculars isell, and always get a second opinion. however, i am not aprofessional and my description is based on my experience and honestassessment; most examples i sell are at least 35 years old and theremay be other defects…….also, please remember, everyone`s eyes aredifferent…..SPECIFICATION:HERTEL& REUSS`TORDALK`11x 80porroprismbinoculars;FIELDOF VIEW 4.6DEGREES;made in Germany;serial number No.204183;weight 1830grams.Thesebinoculars will be thoroughly double wrapped & packed for thepurchaser and will be sent using a signed for service within the U.K.Carriage prices quoted are to mainland U.K. please contact me fora quote if you non-mainland.Iwill also send WORLD WIDE using E Bay`s GLOBAL SHIPPING PROGRAMME ifit is offered in your country for this item.Collectionis welcome.Paypalvery much preferred.Ararebinocular from a well respected GERMAN manufacturer in their day.
