Extremelyearly Zeiss Teleater 3x binoculars or opera glasses from the first batch in 1907Thisis an extremely early Teleater 3x example. It comes from the veryfirst batch of Teleaters produced in 1907. This very early Teleateris characterised by having no interocular scale but just a flatplate. Also, the oculars were fixed with no dioptre adjustment.Modifications were introduced later circa 1910. This particular pairare a rare survivor from the very first batch of this first design.They are in very acceptable condition. The paint has an expectedamount of edge rubbing but in general is very good. This isparticularly true of the cover plates with the inscriptions. Thesolder-filled text is still clearly visible. The leather has a coupleof scuff marks but is otherwise very good and secure. The lenses andprisms have been cleaned and provide clear collimated vision.Unfortunately, with no ocular adjustment, there is a slight focallength difference between each side. The central focus is smooth. Thehinge is smooth and firm. The eye cups appear to be original, one hasa very tiny crack.Asmentioned the solder-filled inscriptions are clear, they read, CarlZeiss Jena on the left, and Teleater 120897 3x on the right.
