I’m selling my complete Celestron Advanced VX 8″ Edge HD astrophotography set up. It includes everything you need (except the actual camera) to take photos of all sorts of night-sky targets from the moon to distant galaxies. I’ve used it extensively in the five years I’ve owned it from new. The Celestron Edge series are widely regarded to be the best schmidt-cassegrain telescope type, and I can vouch for their claim that star images are sharp to the very edges of the field – this telescope is optimised for astrophotography. I am only selling to fund an equatorial mount for my large reflector.
I have very carefully looked after the scope so the condition is virtually perfect. It comes with all the original accessories, such as the 40mm eyepiece, fully adjustable tripod, computerised mount, which once set up will point you straight to any target you choose (and continue to track it). All that currently costs 2049 new. I am also including a few extras that you don’t get with the scope: a Baader mains power adapter, T-2 mount so you can mount an SLR camera if you get the appropriate adapter for your camera, additional counterweight to balance additional hardware, an extra SkyWatcher 25mm eyepiece, and an upgrade to the original diagonal which I found rather flimsy – this is a much better William Optics Durabright Dielectric diagonal, worth 90. Full instructions for both mount and telescope are included.
I am only offering for collection as this is rather unwieldy to pack and post, but I’m prepared to meet halfway if you’re a long way away from Fareham, Hampshire.
