CARL ZEISSJENA binoculars were produced in the old EAST GERMANY (DDR). Build quality washigh but with lower prices than the CARL ZEISS west german models. Thiscombination of value for money and great optical performance made them bestsellers, with some models staying in production for over 70 years!Germanmanufacturers had started making lightweight roof prism designs in the 60`s,leitz had their trinovid range carl zeiss brought out their dialyt roof prismsand carl zeiss jena responded with the NOTAREM models 8 x 32 and 10 x 40 roofprisms which both sold well. This listingis for a very good and collectable Carl Zeiss Jena NOTAREM 8 x 32B dating Ithink to the late 70`s or early 1980`s. It is in pleasing order and comes in it`s excellent original case and strap, and a more modern neoprene neckstrap by HAMA. NOTAREMS may have been cheaperthan their west german `cousins`, but on build quality and optical ability theyran them very close. This one has proved a delight to use, handling very well and with very clear bright optics.CARL ZEISSJENA binoculars were produced in the old EAST GERMANY (D.D.R.).
