Carl Zeiss Jena DDR “Jenoptem” 10 x 50W wide-angle multi-coated binoculars serial number 6922279 (1989.) These are a pair of genuine East German binoculars clearly marked “DDR” and with the correct 7-digit serial number (see photos.) They were some of the very last ever produced by Zeiss DDR and have the final version of their revolutionary “T3M” multi-coated optics optimising viewing even in the most challenging lighting conditions, such as at dawn and dusk. These binoculars are in top, close to new condition, having hardly ever been used.There are no optical or mechanical faults. They are crystal-clear internally with no fungus or haze and with no damage or scratches to any lenses or prisms and perfectly collimated – no double image or eyestrain. Focussing and right diopter adjustments are silk-smooth, the legendary Carl Zeiss optics producing a bright, pin-sharp image. Cosmetically they are unmarked, still with the glossy “sheen” of a new binocular. Their solid leather red velvet-lined case is also in fine condition and they have their original case strap and black leather binocular lanyard. A superb example of this classic Zeiss binocular ready to give many years of enjoyable use. The binoculars will be carefully packed in a well padded box for dispatch and sent fully insured.
