Carl Zeiss Jena DDR Jenoptem 10 x 50W Binoculars

Carl Zeiss Jena DDR “Jenoptem” 10 x 50W binoculars serial number 4611018 (1977). This is a pair of genuine East German Zeiss binoculars, bearing the correct 7-digit serial number and clearly marked “DDR”. Please read the description fully and look at all the photos before bidding. These binoculars are in perfect working order with totally clear internals and are nice collimated without any trace of a “double image”.  They focus smoothly from infinity right down to their minimum of about 5 m/15 ft.  All the lenses are clear and undamaged and the blue optical coatings are in good condition. Also the right diopter eye compensation works normally. The image is bright and pin-sharp, well up to the legendary Carl Zeiss standard. But they have been well used and this shows in their cosmetic condition. While the leather covering is in good order, making them comfortable to hold, the paint is badly worn as the pictures show and there are also some small dents around the edges of the prism covers. There are also two minor faults to note. First, a tiny chip on the edge of a prism in the left optics (visible in the photo shot through the lens in the “2 o’clock” position.) But this is so small and clear of the central light path that it does not effect performance in any way. Secondly  the focussing wheel has been knocked slightly out of true but this does not effect the focussing mechanism itself which is very smooth. I bought the binoculars without a case but I am including in the sale a case from another type. And they still have their original black leather Zeiss lanyard. So a good honest “working pair” of Zeiss binoculars ready to use and enjoy rather than to polish and display in a show case. The binoculars will be carefully packed in a well-padded box and.
