Carl Zeiss Jena DDR “Deltrintem” 8 x 30 binoculars serial number 3712893 (1970.) This is a pair of genuine East German Zeiss binoculars clearly marked “DDR” and with the correct 7-digit serial number.The Deltrintem was the premium range East German Zeiss 8 x 30 binocular, superior to the basic Jenoptem, being hand assembled using specially selected components and bearing the prestigeous “Q1” quality mark. And the Deltrintem was also sold with a superior “luxury” top-loading leather case. These binoculars are in close to new condition, having had very little use. They are A1 optically, crystal-clear internally with no fungus or haze and with no damage at all to prisms or any cleaning marks/scratches on the lenses. Collimation is perfect with no double image. They focus very smoothly and produce and bright, pin-sharp image. Cosmetic condition is also close to new with no signs of wear to either the fresh-looking semi-matt paint or the unmarked leather covering that I could see. The case, too, appears to have been used very little but there is a scratch on the lid and the red velvet lining is rather faded. In short, a beautifully original pair of classic Zeiss binoculars. The binoculars will be carefully packed in a well padded box for dispatch and sent fully insured. I never end auctions early so there is no “buy-it-now” price.
