Carl Zeiss Jena “Dekarem” 10 x 50W binoculars serial
number 6947666 (1988). Please see the Peter Abraham site on binoculars:

Look down the page until you get to Zeiss Binocular Production Numbers, which
is a file listing the serial numbers year by year.
This is a pair of genuine Carl Zeiss Jena binoculars, bearing the
correct 7-digit serial number.
It is clearly marked “ Dekarem” and “MULTI-COATED”, being made in
1988 means it was still the DDR but this is not stamped (probably getting ready
for the new Germany).
A nice example in good condition as you would expect from
something used but very well made.
There is some wear on the paint at the front consistent with use
including an attempt to cover up – probably with a black marker – but that’s
all it seems.
Controls and internally optics are clear. Reverse viewing looks
fine – but I am not expert – all I can say is that the view is really sharp and
looks clear.
The lenses look fine overall with a couple of small marks – I’ve
tried to take a picture, but these do not seem to affect viewing.
The binoculars have a very bright, pin-sharp image and I have
tried to take a picture through one of the lenses to show what its like – a
garden shed 20 feet away, taken from inside and through m y kitchen window.
The glasses binoculars come in their original solid solid leather
case (no strap and the side strap fittings are fine but a bit rusty) and binocular
lanyard as seen fitted.
A great classic binocular from the world’s leading optical marque.
Dimensions length 16 cms, width 20 cms and height 6 cms.
Weight 1 kg. Packed in the case, the dimensions are 20x20x9.
