Carl Zeiss Jena Binoctem 7×50 T3M Multicoated Binoculars – S/N 588652
A very rare, late, version of the Carl Zeiss Jena 7×50 Binoctem binocular in excellent optical, physical, and optical condition. This is a genuine Carl Zeiss Jena binocular identified by the 7 digit serial number and dappled paint finish.
We think it dates from 1982/3. It is possibly a re-badged Jenoptem, as it is multicoated, but it does have the rarer Binoctem name.
The collimation is precise, and the image excellent. The coating on the front and rear elements is very good. There is some very minor internal dust which does not affect the image.
The binocular has clearly been kept in a dry place during its life.
The Binoctem is an old design dating back several decades, and for most of the time it was either uncoated, or single coated. This is one of the final versions of this binocular with multi-coated optics (very rare to find this on a Binoctem).
It is supplied with its original case (which is black rather than brown as one would find with a Jenoptem), and also a neck strap for the binocular and a shoulder strap for the carry case (if you are looking for an example of this binocular on eBay, please bear in mind that it is difficult to find cases and straps if they are not included).
