CARL ZEISS 12x50B DODECAREM BINOCULAR

is in little used condition and complete with it’s original virtually perfect leather case, two unused lanyards, warranty card, instruction booklet and original polystyrene packaging. One of my personal favourites from my own collection!
 
Equally suitable for use with or without spectacles.

Serial number 6611030 indicates a very
late model (1987). Extremely rare in this condition and highly sought after by collectors and users alike.

           The Zeiss Dodecarem was the successor of the
Nobilem Spezial and has the advantage of improved transmission,
edge sharpness and mechanical ruggedness. It is regarded as the best binocular made by Zeiss in Jena in 100 years of production. Superbly designed and engineered, it was produced to prove that the Zeiss Jena factory could equal the West German Oberkochen binoculars in quality. My personal belief is that this binocular surpassed it.
At 12x magnification, it is on the edge of usability without a tripod, though it is still very usable if the elbows are supported. For those who feel they need it there is a tripod adaptor socket at the front of the prism housing, but the binocular is beautifully well balanced in the hands.

The multi-coated optics are perfect and crystal clear. The body shows very few tiny signs of use. The focusing and dioptre adjustments are butter smooth like new.
The collimation is perfect and soft rubber eyecups also. The leather case is like new and the leather straps for binocular and case are unused.

Please note: Since the total weight of binocular, case and accessories comes to over 2kg, the cost of shipping abroad will be (I think) prohibitively expensive. There is however the option of sending the case and accessories separately if required. This will be much less but dependent on the destination. ***This principle could also apply within the UK.
