British Army Binoculars Avimo 7 x 42mm L12A1Made by Avimo
Self focusing means that you don’t need to twirl knobs to correct any blurriness – they are automatically focused.
This only works if you have good eyesight – if you haven’t then you must use them with your contact lenses for them to be effective. Using them with glasses is awkward.
The lenses are in very good condition and the binos function perfectly.
There is a range graticule included in the right eye piece (spacing 10 mils apart). This enables you to work out distances of objects if you know the length of the object. For example a Land Rover 90 is 4m long. The divisions on the graticule are in 10 mils. If when looking through the binoculars the Land Rover is 2 mils wide, you use the formula Actual length (4m) x 1000 (constant) then divide by the number of mils it takes up. So 4 x 1000 = 4000 divided by 2 = 2000m. The Land Rover is 2km away.
The rubber armouring and metal show very small signs of wear and tear, see photos.
The rubber eye pieces are in perfect condition.Complete with original strap and original high brightness lenses ( the lens carry case is in perfect condition )
These are excellent binoculars that have seen a bit of military service. They are one of the best condition pairs I have come acrossThese binoculars are in excellent condition and good working order.
