The Bresser Pollux Mirror Telescope 150/1400 EQ2 is a wonderful instrument. Because, an additional lens is added to the optical design we here speak also about a catadioptrical telescope. Through this lens system, which is located in front of the focuser, the focal length will be doubled. This makes that this telescope offers the great advantage of being very compact and still have a long focal length with a nice big opening of 150mm.
The more experienced astronomer will know that the incidence of light is a more important factor than magnification. These people will appreciate the large 150 mm mirror, because with this a significant amount of light can be collected and reflected. You will easlily be able to in detail observe distant objects in the solar system. The 150 mm aperture and a focal length of 1400 mm give this OTA (Optical Tube Assembly) a focal ratio of f/9.3.
The EQ2 Equatorial mount enables you to track objects in the night sky with ease. As, accessory comes a 3x Barlow. This lets you increase the focal length. However, this comes at the expense of brightness and detail. Therefore, a Barlow lens is also recommended only when viewing very bright objects like the moon. Because of the beautiful carbon look of the OTA (Optical Tube Assembly), the viewer looks also very professional. With the included smartphone camera adapter you can easily take a picture of bright objects like the moon.
