BRADY & MARTIN MAXLUX 8×20 PORROPRISM BINOCULARS (NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE)
A set of binoculars made for the Newcastle upon Tyne company of Brady and Martin.
Brady and Martin were a pharmaceutical, wholesale chemist and surgical instrument maker with branches in Northumberland Rd. and at 29 Moseley St. They were in existence from 1880 to 1964 becoming a Ltd Co. in 1903. The Brady and Martin building on Northumberland Rd. was 3 storeys and is now demolished. Brady and Martin Court now occupies the site.
These binoculars are usable but dirt and haze in the optics mean they do not render the best image. I would imagine they will be of main interest for the connection to Brady and Martin.
