Boer War / WW1 Voigtlander & Sohn Binoculars with Callaghan & Co.mark Victorian / Boer War /WW1 Binoculars with Leather caseUsed as shown May need some cleaning to inner Eyepieces marked Voigtlander & Sohn ( makers)The extended focus tubes are faintly engraved with Callaghan & Co. Sole Agent By Appointment / 23 New Bond Street ???? LondonWhen sun shades are extended at lower the lens edges have been engraved H.S. To G.E.A. May be a gift from a sweetheart to an Officer before leaving for War – Boer War ?Some wear to Leather grips .Light wear to paint mostly at edges showing Brass beneath.
In use they are actually pretty good for age and type – they are typical of type – like looking through 2 different portholes but they are fairly crisp and powerful in a way these older style binoculars are not normally ( often my own eyesight is better !) I can read number plates some distance away that I cannot read without .Minor wear to Leather and minor wear to paint but when you consider they must be 100 + years old they are in pretty good order When you look down wrong end lenses have light haze / mist with dirt /fungus ?Lenses unscrew so should be straight forward to cleanNot too bad to use but would certainly benefit from being stripped and cleaned.Centre focus wheel quite stiff. The sun shade tubes to end are a little loose.
Retains Leather case , missing lid top strap and shoulder strap – retains Brass pins to fix strap to.Retains lid buckle strap.Outer of case has some rubbing but in pretty good solid order.Missing the lining to lid ( possible card with velvet lining)
IN USED CONDITION AS SHOWN MAY NEED CLEANING / REFURBISHMENT
