This is a extremely nice example of a  T. Cooke / Ross Military spotting scope from around the turn of the 20 th Century.

Initially I thought it was a Ross military as per the original engraving on the last draw tube, on further investigation I am now convinced that it was actually made by Thomas Cooke of York,and sold for re branding by Ross, probably to fill a military order.

I have included a page from the 1907 catalogue that clearly shows this scope in the table top version.

This should double the price, but I am quite happy to let this price stand until the end of this auction. 

It has been professionally restored to a high standard without loosing the original feel.

Mechanically everything is smooth and precise.

Optically its amazingly good, I compared the image of the moon with my Unitron scope and it stud up very well indeed.

The objective is approx 75 mm and free from mold and chips. 

With the eyepiece extended its approx 50 ” long.

The wooden tripod is of recent times,composed of solid Oak and dulled down stainless steel.

This scope is for the serious collector.
