A pair of Victorian Jumelles Mars folding skeleton opera glasses or binoculars. An interesting little gadget, dating from the late nineteenth or early twentieth century. In good condition however there is a pin missing from the slider and there appears to be potentially a thin film of glue around the lenses – it does not affect their use. This could be the original mounting but unsure. Made in France.It is marked “MARS” – “Btee” – “FR & ETR” and “MODELE DEPOSE”The piece is a real “steampunk” style gadget and looks great displayed.
