SkyWatcher 150P Reflector.150mm f5 Parabolic Newtonian TelescopeMounted on rock-solid SkyScan2001 head.
Focal Length of optical system 750mm (f5).

Nice Big Apperture of 150mm / 6″PARABOLICMIRROR(Most important!)Parabolicmirrors bring all the light to the same focus. Ifyou buy a telescope with a spherical figured mirror you will havefuzzy stars and blurred detail on the planets! This is an excellent all-roundtelescope as it has great light gathering power but a short focal ratio which means a short tube to helpget to grips with handling a telescope on an equatorial mountingwhilst enjoying relatively little ‘wind shake’.The equipment level is good with threeeyepieces and a Barlow lens, 6 magnifications – a good selection for deep sky and planetary viewing. More than enough tostart with.

The telescope is mounted on a proper equatorialmounting, with ‘slow motion knobs’, which is easy to set up and willallow you to follow the heavenly bodies easily. Manual slow motion controls with sturdy H/D aluminium tripod and rock-solid EQ4/5 mountinghead.   I would notrecommend you try starting out in astronomy using an Alt-Azimuth orGo-to mounting.

This model isnot too heavy to move in and out to the observing site
even for youngteens at 16Kg.
If you are comparing prices make sure you specify the SkyScan2001 EQ4/5. (415)
This telescope usually only comes with a EQ3 head (at 310).

WhatWonders Will You See?

Imagine yourself at the controls of thisimpressive instrument under the azure blue of a summer’s evening, slewing effortlessly from object to objectfollowing your own programme of celestial discovery!
SolarSystem:
This telescopewill show you a good amount of detail on the planets:
Mercury and Venuswill show their phases.
Marswill show some dark markings and the polar cap when extensive.
Youcan see at least 30 Asteroids. (You can find anythat is above Magnitude 11 reliably.)
Jupiterwill show 2 – 4 belts (and, of course, its four Galilean moons).
Saturn will show its ringsystem clearly and 4 – 5 moons on a good night.
Uranusand Neptune will be visible as tiny green/blue discs.
(Youcan’t reliably see Pluto by eye in this scope.)  You will be able to explore the craters, mountains, rills and valleys of the Moon when it’s in a phase, andthe ray craters when it’s full.

Deep Sky:
This telescope will gather enoughlight to show magnitude 14 stars.
It will show all theMessier objects (M1 to M110) and many more NGC galaxies, nebulae andstar-clouds too. The Andromeda Galaxy M32,
TheGreat Nebula in Orion M42,
The Dumb-bell Nebula M27
GreatGlobula in Hercules M13
… will all be clearly visible. The Pleiades, the Seven Sisters M45, willreveal many more members of their extended family in low power viewsthat will amaze!

Stars:Shows colours of the stars down to magnitude 11 and splits double stars as close as 0.77 seconds of arc on a night of good seeing.

This brilliant instrument hasbeen stored in the garage you see in the photos and has had some useunder the often clear skies of Rotherham.  A nicetelescope which has to move on to someone who will use it a bit morethan I.  My eyesight is deteriorating and I can’t use this scope to to its full advantage any more – Sadly.  Very good condition and ready to go…
