Large, tripod mounted900-114 Reflector Telescope
with Equatorial EQII Mount
Briefly used last week for the “Super Blue Blood Moon”, but the equatorial mount is a bit complicated for our son (6 year old). Good that the tripod legs are adjustable so that it could be lowered to a suitable height without steps. Would be great for him in a few more years time, but we don’t have room to store it for that long.
Photograph of moon was taken using a simple smartphone held up against the lower magnification of the two eyepieces – awesome to view for real, especially seeing the profile of the craters around the edge of the moon and the impact scars. The higher magnification eyepiece is in a different league! Haven’t tried it with stars as the moon was too bright. Comes with a green “moon filter” and a “sun filter” (untested!). The telescope also has a cover which can be fully or partially (inner part only) removed, and a tray which fixes to the tripod to store eyepieces and lens on.
