NEW 2015 Version

The Starwave 80 ED refractor’s ED optics produce a highcontrast image with very good colour correction, and the over-engineeredoptical tube is strong and rigid enough for long exposure astro imaging.

The oversize, tension-adjustable 3.0″ Crayford focusercan handle heavy loads like a large eyepiece or DSLR easily. The ED Doubletdesign offers good colour correction while keeping the optical tube compactenough for transport. The 80ED lens is well regarded for visual observing.Optical smoothness, figuring and low temperature performance is veryconsistent, and the field is flat enough not to be distracting with wide fieldeyepieces – with most eyepieces function very well at the F7 focal length.

As with most refractors, a high contrast image is deliveredat the eyepiece because there is no central obstruction like mirror telescopedesigns.

When it comes to astro imaging, the Starwave 80ED opticaldesign has become an ideal choice for customers wanting a cost effective dualimaging and visual capable telescope all in one unit, offering better colourcorrection than an achromat telescope with same or even longer focal length. The over-engineered 3″ rotating dual speed focuser can handle heavy loads, with a direct threaded connection to the optional dedicated Starwave 0.8xreducer.

Tube rings have the standard M6 hole pattern to fit mosthardware mounting systems on the market. A Vixen-style dovetail bar and caseare included.

You will need a mount, eyepieces and a star-diagonal to usethis high quality telescope.

A finder scope or RDF (Red Dot Finder) isn’t strictlynecessary at this short focal length if you find the object with a low powereyepiece and increase the power from there onwards. Most finder scopes will fitthe Starwave 80ED focuser directly., and we recommend the Starwave 50mm DeluxeFinder Scopes, which are a perfect fit, and can be used for an auto-guider whenimaging.

The aluminium tube achieves thermal equilibrium veryquickly, and the metal construction conducts heat easily to the front optics(essential for imaging). The over-engineered 3″ rotating dual speedfocuser can handle heavy loads, with a direct threaded connection to theoptional dedicated Starwave 0.8x reducer (reducer option available in dropdownmenu below). Tube rings have the standard M6 hole pattern to fit most hardwaremounting systems on the market. A Vixen-style dovetail bar is included.

Included:

– 80mm F7 ED Doublet optical tube (555mm focal length).

– Oversize Dual Speed 1:10 ratio 3.0″ Crayford Focuser,360 rotation, with stainless steel rail and tension adjustment (ideal forimaging).

– Crayford focuser rear assembly can be remove for directthreaded attachment to the optional Planostar 0.8x reducer (for imaging).

– Retractable dew shield.

– 2″ to 1.25″ eyepiece adapter with brasscompression rings.

– 2x Tube rings with standard M6 30mm hole pattern (enablingthe telescope to be balanced more easily for imaging, or dual-mounted as aguide scope).

– Standard “Vixen-format” dovetail bar.

– Transport case.

The Included case is supplied free of charge. It is designedto protect the scope when we send them out by courier. In the unlikely eventthe case arrives with any marks or dents it will not be replaced.
