This is a pair of Barr & Stroud C.F.24 8×30 binoculars, serial number 130597. They are in good, used condition with obvious signs of use and a small amount of paint loss to the focussing wheel and individual focus adjustment on the right hand ocular. The coated optics are very clean and clear with just a few specks on the prisms. There is also a tiny scratch on a prism the left side when viewed, ‘backwards’ through the objective lens. None of this affects the image quality which is excellent. The binocular is in good collimation and overall the build quality seems very high.The raised inscription on the right hand side states that the binoculars are a ‘extra wide angle’ type. I measured the angle of view and it is about 7 degrees, which is pretty average really. Nevertheless, a really nice pair of 1950’s binoculars in great condition.
