Carl Zeiss Jena DDR “Jenoptem” 8 x 30w multi-coated binoculars serial number 5350796 (1980.) This is a pair of genuine East German Zeiss binoculars clearly marked “DDR” and with the correct 7-digit serial number. They feature the revoluntionary “T3M” optical multi-coatings for optimal viewing even in challenging low-light conditions. This particular pair is in excellent un-restored condition. The binoculars are in full working order with no significant optical or mechanical defects. Optics are very clear internally and with absolutely no damage (chips or cracks) to prisms or lenses. There are just some tiny white spots, visible only on reverse viewing and some very light cleaning marks on the eyepiece lenses, neither having any noticeable effect on viewing. Collimation is perfect with no double image, still as set by the factory. Cosmetic condition is also very good with very few traces of use – see photos. They focus very smoothly and produce and bright, pin-sharp image. They have their solid leather red velvet lined case, shoulder strap and new black leather binocular lanyard, the original lost. A fine example of this classic Zeiss glass ready to give many years of enjoyable use. The binoculars will be carefully packed in a well padded box for dispatch and sent fully insured.
