Carl Zeiss Jena DDR “Jenoptem” 10 x 50W wide-angle multi-coated binocularsMade in Germany and marked ‘DDR’ with 7 digit serial number 6584737
The binoculars belonged to my father and I imagine they have not been used for the last 25 years and have been in a cupboard untouched.
They appear to be in good condition, with just a few knocks and marks in keeping with their age. The lenses appear to be unmarked. The vision is clear.
The leather neck strap is in good condition
The binoculars have their original brown leather soft lined case. However unfortunately the leather ‘sleeve’ holding the metal wire ‘hinge’ is broken but the metal part is there; a shoe menders could possibly repair it. The clasp on the front is missing but I guess this is probably also repairable. Other than this and a few small marks and scratches the case is generally in good condition.
