7 x 50 Dienstglas BMKSrb & Stys Prague in 1944 Serial number 152956
This model was produced by Srb & Stys Prague, and marked in the German war time code – BMK. It is a issued military service binocular.
The markings on the binocular indicate: Dienstglas = service glass, a marking usually found on German army (Heer) binoculars; bmk = 3 letter wartime German coding for the manufacturer Srb & Stys, Prague ; = lubricant code. The binocular has uncoated optics. It is well made with a good view for uncoated optics, the image is slightly out of alignment and the optics need a clean inside.
Although conventionally built it has a distinguishing feature.;1. Its eyecups are hinged and can be folded back for users wearing glasses, a gasmask or goggles. Some Zeiss 7X50s made for the Kriegsmarine also had hinged eyecups. “Dienstglas” marked binoculars were not produced for the navy but sometimes used by the kriegsmarine.
