Pair of Galilean X5 2 7/16 binoculars, by Ross of London. The binoculars are marked Ross, but aren’t dated or broad arrow marked themselves. The leather case is broad arrow marked, states medium, and has some other stamps, including 14 WR, which is possibly a regimental mark. I would think early 1900s in date, between Boer War and WW1. The binoculars are in good mechanical order, and give a good, crisp image, without double vision. Lenses are pretty clean, and free from chips and scratches, bar some light hairline cleaning scratch marking. In good overall cosmetic condition, with paint rubbing exposing the brass beneath, and some dust. The case is also good for its age, with some scuffing, and stitching loss to the two loops on top of the lid.
