With 2 Megapixel imaging sensor, it
allows video resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels, and capture, via
USB2.0 at 5 frames per second (uncompressed). I advise the use of a
third party video capture software: the software to capture video of
the camera driver produces heavily compressed files .wmf.
To get the best image quality you can
set exposure, iso (gain), brightness, contrast, color intensity, and
white balance manually (Quickcam Driver: advanced settings), or use
the RightLight technology (hmmm). The controls of the camera works
over third party software.
Some settings (Preferences) of the
camera can be saved and will be remembered next time you use camera.
You can use the camera for nature
observation as well, e.g. to keep an eye on a distant nest and start
recording automatically when motion is detected. Endless aplications.
Transformed camera specifications:
1. The autofocus, original lens and IR
filter were removed.
1. The microphone is turned off: the
software to capture video of the camera driver will prompt that it is
recording video without sound … just uncheck the box. This will not
happen with third party video capture software.
2. The snapshot button switch was
removed (no snapshots directly on the camera … do it via software,
it’s easy!).
3. The indicator light (led) was not
phisically obliterated. It can be turned off via software
(Preferences) and will be remembered.
4. The webcam adaptor has an internal
threads of M28.5 x 0.75mm at the end of the 1.25″ section for
attaching light filters, or other lenses.

NOTE: The transformations on the
circuit board and casing renders the camera unuseful as a webcamera.
To revert the camera to its previous condition will be very
expensive.
