Carl Zeiss Jena DDR Deltrintem 8×30 Q1 binoculars serial number 4543965 (1977.) . This is a pair of genuine East German Zeiss binoculars, bearing the correct 7-digit serial number and clearly marked “DDR”. The Deltrintem was the Zeiss premium 8×30 binocular, bearing the prestigious “Q1” quality mark and superior to the 8×30 Jenoptem. This example is in as very good condition both optically and cosmetically. The binoculars have no faults optically, are crystal-clear internally, with just a trace of dirt in the left optics but not effecting optical performance in any way. They are nicely collimated (no double image) and both centre focussing and right diopter adjustments work very smoothly, producing a bright, pin-sharp image with the wide-angle view taking in plenty of the scenery, Zeiss optical excellence at its finest. And the paint finish, though it does show moderate wear, is still very smart. As a bonus they come with their special top-loading solid leather red velvet lined case, unique to the Deltrintem and superior to the usual “camera style” Jenoptem case. They also have their case strap, and black leather binocular lanyard and instruction leaflet. A great classic binocular ready to give many more years of use and enjoyment.
