The Celestron 60mm / 700mm f12 Alt-Az (Light-weight = LT) Achromatic Refracting Telescope.
An IDEAL FIRST TELESCOPE!
Imagine being at the eyepiece of this excellent instrument, observing the magical treasures of the universe for the first time, beneath a coal black spring night sky, slewing effortlessly from object to sparkling object, in your personal programme of astronomical observation and discovery…
This telescope is in as new condition. Only came out of the box for these photos
(Carefully put back almost as new – NO MARKS)
SPECIFICATIONS:This telescope will show all the basics of astronomy and it will make an ideal telescope for serious starters, or for those with some experience who want a good quality image, without the burden of weight and size!
Optical diameter is 60mm and 700mm focal length = Ratio: f12
The image in this telescope is nice and clear and the simple red-dot finder-scope lets you point the telescope at the object you want to see in the sky. The Finder-scope is perfect for locating the planets and stars.
This Excellent Offer Includes:
Two Eyepieces.
Celestron 20mm = 35x
Super 10mm = 70x
3X Barlow Lens:
This will treble the magnification of any eyepiece when used together…
3xBarlow with 20mm = 105x3xBarlow with 10mm = 210x
(210x is the most this scope can use sensibly. You have four usable magnifications.)
90 Degree DiagonalThis telescope comes with a 90 degree diagonal, which makes viewing highly elevated objects much more comfortable, and terestrial objects the right way up!
Finder:A Red-Dot finder is fitted. It has a brand new working battery already fitted. Remove the plastic tab to start using (see pic).
MOUNTING:Comes with the easy to use and intuitive Celestron simple ‘light version’ (LT), Alt-Azimuth (AZ), mounting with tube steel extending tripod as shown, which is very easy to set up and use. The telescope attaches with the ‘dovetail’ bar (Orange metal – see photos) simply and easily.
When you feel like trying out an Equatorial mounting, this telescope will fit any that have the ‘dovetail’ fitting! This also means that any other telescope with a dovetail fitting can be used on this mounting too!
This Alt-Az mounted refracting telescope is very well suited to the beginner to astronomical observation. The simple up-down / left-right movement is easy to get the hang of. Twist the long knob to tighten or loosen the up down movement. The left / right movement drag is controlled by a small knob on the side of the tripod head.
This tripod has bracing between its legs, but there is no accessory tray as shown in the pictures, sorry. The tray in the pics was from another telescope, I ordered another but the replacement has been lost by Hermes!
The tripod is easy to fold away after use. It is very stable in use when the legs are fully splayed.
Other Bits:Tube cap, as seen on picture.
Weight: is <5Kg so, it's light enough to move in and out for observing, even for children.
It is an IDEAL FIRST TELESCOPE!
THIS TELESCOPE IN USE:What Wonders Will You See?
This telescope will show you all the basics of general astronomy:-
SOLAR SYSTEM: Detail on the planets
Mercury and Venus will show their phases.
Mars will show a definite disc and some markings on closest approach.
Asteroids: Track down the famous five! Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, Juno and Astraea
Jupiter will show its bands / belts and, of course, its four Galilean moons.Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto.
Saturn will show its rings and Titan, its biggest moon, easily.
Uranus and Neptune will be visible as tiny greeny / bluey star-like discs.
Follow their journey through the stars.
(You can’t reliably see Pluto even with a 150mm telescope by eye! )
You will be able to explore the craters, mountains, rilles and valleys of the Moon* when it’s in a phase, and the ray craters when it’s full.
*Moon photo taken by me with this 60/700 telescope, gives a good idea of the detail available.
DEEP SKY: Galaxies, star clouds, nebulae and globular clusters.
The Andromeda Galaxy (M32), The Orion Nebula (M42), The Great Globular Cluster in Hercules (M13),The Dumb-bell Nebula (M27),The Ring Nebula (M57),and many more deep sky ‘Messier’ wonders. The Seven Sisters, ‘The Pleiades’, (M45) is a wonderful sight on low power.
DOUBLE STARS:Epsilon Lyra: The Double Double. Two close pairs of stars. See if this telescope can split the close pairs on a perfect night!
Albireo Beta Cygni: Beautiful blue and gold pair.Alpha Herculis: Beautiful red and greeny/white pair.Alcor & Mizar: Wide white double, but Mizar is a double too!
It’s winter, which means you can get your teeth into observing and learning to use your new scope in the early evening That’s great for the kids! But wrap up warm, it’s very chilly out there!
All-in-all this is a really nice telescope that will show lots of detail, without breaking the bank or being too difficult to use. A brilliant first telescope. My first telescope was awful – If I had had a scope like this one I would have been much happier!

AboutME:Myname is Barry Cooper. I’ma second-hand telescope dealer.
Ido not sell rubbish telescopes! My feedback depends on it… Ihave 50+ years experience observing with telescopes. Isell only instruments that will be useful to amateur astronomers.
I’mnot selling this instrument because it doesn’t work right, or becauseI don’t know how to use it, or indeed because I’m trying to hoodwinkyou into buying something that’s not as good as I say it is. I selltelescopes to make a bit of money, obviously, but also because I wantto see newcomers to the hobby start off on the right foot. I want youtobe very happy with your telescope.
Thereare a lot of so-called ‘starter’ scopes out there, (even being soldby telescope suppliers!) that I won’t and don’t allow through mydoor! Auctions are filled with instruments with second rate, poorquality optics, ridiculous magnifications and outrageous detailclaims. You won’t find those in my auctions!
Iwould never sell any of the following makes, their optics are awfuland sometimes even plastic! Please, never buy any of these:Bushnell/ Edu Science / Jessops / National Geographic / Opticraft / Optus /Science Tec / Seben / Simmons / Tasco / Vision King / Vivitar /Zennox
Thereare also scopes with well known mechanical failings, which I willrectify before sending it out. Buy another scope if you like, take achance, it’s your choice, but will it perform as well as one of mine?
Mymission is to give you a great scope at a good start price (My BuyIt Now price is always very fair, but people, bless them, like tobid, don’t they? And I’m afraid, more often than not, the auctionfinishes above the BIN… But, I can’t help that!).
Ialso offer an after sales service. I know plenty about your telescopeand I’m happy to help with any problems you have and any query. I’malways available on eBay message, or via email from my SupercooperTelescope Help website (Message me for details).
So,please read my feedback, absorb the advice on the website, and relax, you’re in good hands.=================================================================
Payment via PayPal only, please.
The instrument will be boxed in one box (6kg) and sent with a reliable courier (Not Hermes or Yodel!)
The telescope is packed inside a sturdy, good quality cardboard box with lots of bubblewrap to keep it safe during its journey.================================================================
The photographs in this listing are of the actual item.
No “stock photos” in my auctions.
Any astro-photos included are taken with the actual instrument.

Good luck and happy bidding. ;o)
