Rare Leitz ( Leica ) Campofortit 15×60 binoculars
Leitz Campofortit 15×60 binoculars in a very good used condition having been professionally serviced in the last mth.
Cosmetically, all of the original leather is intact rubbed slightly in a couple of places as shown in the photos. All of the metal housing is in good condition with just a little brassing, again as shown in the photos.
Having just been serviced, the hinges are buttery smooth as is the focus ring and diopter adjustment. Visually, when inverted the wrong way, there is still the odd spot mark showing against a white background but externally, all 4 lenses are in excellent condition and the view is impressive for such an old pair of binoculars.
From research, I’ve discovered this model was manufactured between 1932 and 1962.Ive contacted Leica who have confirmed the serial number would suggest a yr of manufacture of 1939/40.
As such, these are likely 80 yrs old so please do not expect a brand new pair of binoculars-these are a rare pair of binoculars perfectly useable despite being on the heavy side but equally suited to a collector.
They come with matching leather case in overall solid condition but is missing a small lanyard strap and the strap fastening has unfortunately become detached, both as shown,
