Antique Sporting or Military Field Glasses – Good Vision – Need Repair.

These lack the small retaining bolt for the eye section of lenses – this section can be pulled out.

Despite the missing bolt they can easily still be used with care – they have very good magnification – as good as a small modern pair of binoculars we have – I was surprised when viewing a small hill 5 miles distant to see the triangulation pillar surrounded by sheep!

Research indicated (no makers marks) they are probably WW1 1914-18 date and they could be military and even possibly German or French, none of this we can be 100% certain of so you’d have to choose.

Condition is as conveyed in the photos –

Vision is very clear with no fungus or dust deposits within, there are some light marks to be seen but these don’t impede vision.

Left hand viewing lens has glue deposits which again doesn’t impede vision.

Leather is distressed but stable with light cracks. One leather section has damage to it’s binding and is parting slightly but again still remains in place.

They have light marks throughout.

Please note we’re not sure of the actual magnification, we have a vintage pair

being 8 x 30 and this antique certainly a higher magnification.

Measuring –

Fully extended they measures 29cm or 7.5 inches,

12.5cm in maximum width, across the lenses, lenses including the brass bezels are 6cm in diameter,

weighing just over 700g, or 9oz.
