A pair of old antique London Dolland binoculars
These binoculars were given as a prize in a shooting competition. They have two inscriptions. The inscription of the person to win them was Ensign S. Over of the 3rd Warwickshire Rifle Volunteer Corps (Birmingham Rifles) in 1872.
The London Gazette of that year shows Samual Over..gent becoming an Ensign on 22nd of June for the 3rd Warwickshire Rifles.
PLEASE NOTE. I HAVE NOT ATTEMPTED TO CLEAN THE BINOCULARS. THEY HAVE COME FROM AN ATTIC. THEY ARE DUSTY AND DIRTY. THERE IS A CRACK TO ONE OF THE TOP LENSES AND A BOTTOM ONE. THE LEATHER ON THE BINOCULARS HAS CRACKED AND CASE IS MISSING THE LID
