Altair Astro Starwave Classic 102mm F11 Refractor Telescope Optical Tube Assy. Condition is Used.
A beautiful classic long focus refractor in unmarked as new condition. No marks on the tube assy and optics are pristine. Purchased new by me and no longer available on the market, this telescope has loads of rave reviews on the internet. A perfect planetary, Lunar, solar and double star instrument which I know I’m going to regret parting with, sometime in the near future. However, I just have too many telescopes at the moment, (according to my wife!), so something has to go.
These hand figured, lenses are manufactured from Japanese Ohara glass and are subject to very strict quality control, being signed off at every stage of manufacture and individually serialised. This one is ser. no.0027. These are not to be confused with the average mass produced scopes coming out of the east.
The 2″ dual speed Crayford focuser is fully rotatable, adjustable for tension and very smooth operation and includes a 2″ to 1.25″ adaptor
Tube rings are c.n.c machined with decent size locking knobs.
The long dewshield is very smooth moving and provided with a locking knob to prevent slippage.
The lens is protected by a screw in metal cap.
The finderscope is a Meade 8×50 which is very good, but does have some screw marks from a previous life. The marks are more like stains rather than paint damage.
Views are outstanding and collimation is spot on. Colour fringing is near absent and only apparent on the very brightest objects like the Lunar limb and Venus etc.
PLEASE NOTE: The sale is for the optical tube assembly only. This includes main tube, rings, finder and filter mentioned above. Does not include the tripod, pillar extn. and Sky Tee head which is for demonstration only.
I have the original box with foam inserts, and will add extra packing inside to pad it all out. So courier delivery should be safe. You are also welcome to collect from Clevedon, junction 20 M5 once paid for.
