First introduced around 1910 these delightful binoculars were sold exclusively by Barkers of Kensington and aimed at young
military officers for whom it was common at that time to buy many items of their own equipment.
Fairly compact by the standards of the time, they are very solidly built from solid brass and the quality of the optics are fully up
to the famous Taylor-Hobson standards.
The field of view is rather narrow but they are extremely sharp and clear to look through.
The optics are bright and clear with no signs of scratches, haze or fungus and the general cosmetic condition is remarkable
for binoculars over 100 years old. They appear to have had very little use and must have been stored very carefully.
The focus wheel and the adjustable right hand optic both operate smoothly and the only fault I can find is that the original woven
cord neck strap is badly frayed at one end. This may be repairable or indeed it would be a fairly simple matter to fit a new
neck strap, perhaps a leather one.
Talking of leather, the tan leather case is also in remarkable condition with all the stitching perfectly intact, bright and clean.
Please bid with total confidence, you will not be disappointed. You are unlikely to find a better example of this model.
