A C19TH antique c1860s 8 draw nickel-silver plated brass and dark brown stitched leather covered telescope with a total length of 28.5 in (725 mm) when fully drawn and with a length of 6 in (152 mm) in the closed position. It has the Makers name ‘ CHADBURN 71 Lord St Liverpool, Optician to HRH Prince Consort ‘ and the objective lens has a diameter of 1.65 in (42 mm). The objective lens retains its original removable cover while the eyepiece retains its sliding brass cover and both lenses are in very good condition giving good clear images. Cosmetically, the telescope is in overall very good condition for its age with no real damage. All the plate is in good order with some expected scuffing to the leather over the barrel commensurate with age and use. A lovely quality antique telescope which would make a great addition to anyone’s collection, display or for use etc…..
