SWIFTbinoculars were the top Japanese made brand in the U.K. in the 1960`s& 70`s. Selling in top department stores, independentphotographic shops and opticians, they were available on most highstreets. Their advertising & packaging made a proud boast:world`sfinest binoculars;the great german manufacturers wouldn`t have agreed, but have nodoubt, SWIFT`s top range binoculars were excellent in optical qualityand value for money no wonder they sold so well. So, what abouttoday? Interest in 60`s & 70`s VINTAGE RETRO style is everywhere,these swift top models ooze with it but are still so useable especially if like me, you like binoculars that look like binocularsshould!
SWIFTalways offered several ranges of binoculars, and one intriguing rangewere those made by theMiyakoSeiki andMusashi factories in Japan during the late 60`s & early 70`s.These were very stylish models with decent optics and some – thoughprobably not all – were marketed in the U.K. This listing is for aSWIFT HIGHLAND8x 35 porroprism binocular from that range. It is in reasonablecondition for its age and performs well althoughcollimation is not perfect.It features rigidtwistdown eyecups for spectacle wearers and a tripod mount in the lowerhinge. A very stylish binocular now with strong retro appeal, ithandles well and comes with all its original case,SWIFT brochureand neckcord. Anew microfibrelens cloth is provided.
