I have for sale what i believe to be is a quality set of 1960s Binoculars.
I have genuinely acquired these from a private source and can say that these binoculars have only been owned by one other person than myself since they were made.
They were given as a retirement gift in 1961 and have stayed with these people since.
The Binoculars are Swarvorski Habicht premium line, Austrian made.
The binoculars come housed in a period light brown leather case which i believe is not the original although they carry a tooled monogram to the lid also a silver plaque inside of the lid of the person who they were given to in the 1960s.
Binoculars are small in size and relatively light.
The bins are cosmetically in good condition considering there age .
There viewing ability is superb very clear lenses no marks inside when viewed also good collimation.
:
Lenses are coated this shows up as a violet / blue colour i believe that is what the DV stands for stamped on the body, “Doppelvergutung” “Blue Coating”.
Also stamped N for [ normal ].
Bins carry a retailers name also finely engraved into the metal this reads – J.D. Siddall Chester, i believe opticians still trading, also carries owners name H.Donbavand.
Condition in my opinion is very good loss of raised plastic grip to inner edge of lens body, see photo .
Also areas of black paint loss ,not bad though common i believe in these early glasses.
Lens diameter – large 3.5 cm Small 1.3 cm
Bins have original black strap and small lens cover, wording on surface reads- Habicht Swarvorski Optik K.G.
Leather case is tan coloured with red velvet lining, silver label to inner lid with inscription see photo.
Case is stamped made in England ,clasp and straps all complete .
Case has a number of horse racing members passes attached to it dating from 2000 i will leave these on it.
Binoculars measure -15 cm wide x 11.5 cm high.
