ZeissD.F. 7×50 smooth ocular Kriegsmarine binoculars with unusual markingsAvery similar binocular with fluted oculars rather than the smooth, isshown and discussed on this website:https://www.binoculars-cinecollectors.com/html/body_unusual_page_2.htmlItis regarded as being a very unusual binocular because of themarkings. The left hand cover plate carries the usual Carl Zeiss Jenaprism logo with the model name D.F. 7×50 over the serial number2148385. Above this there is the letter T denoting coated optics. Tothe left of these is the Imperial Eagle on two circles representingan oak leaf surrounding the wartime symbol. On one side of this isthe letter M for Kriegsmarine and on the other side is the Carl ZeissJena test department stamp IV/1. The right hand cover plate simplyhas the letter N over Nr.42404 believed to represent the North Sea. Thesebinoculars are in remarkably excellent condition. The original paintis in near perfect condition with just a little rubbing around theobjective lens rims. The two bending bar caps are missing. There is asmall chip out of one eye cup. When back-viewed there are some veryfine dust particles on one side but they have absolutely nodetrimental effect on normal viewing which is excellent and correctlycollimated. The oculars focus freely although firmer than normalwhich I am told was intentional to maintain focus better for theuser. The binoculars come with a benutzer, rubber cord, and clip.These are a very unusual set of binoculars in remarkably excellentcondition.Thebinoculars come with what is probably their original neck strap andstuds which is also in very good usable condition. There is also avery good case which I believe to be of later date but neverthelessis an excellent fit for the binoculars. The red lined black case isin excellent condition with no tears or bad scuffs. It has a compassset into the lid. Although there is a shoulder strap, it has had anold repair and should not be relied upon without furtherstrengthening.
