A rare pair of Barr and Stroud Binoculars, type CN15, no 368, dating from WWII.The binoculars have a 45 viewing angle and a rectangular frame in the right hand eyepiece, both of which make them ideal for aircraft spotting or possibly Naval use, they have separate eyepiece focusing and width adjustment via a top mounted dial and locking wing nut, also a socket type fitting on the right side eyepiece.They measure approx 9″ x 8″ x 5″ and weigh just over 2.6kg, makers nameplate to the top which reads, Barr and Stroud Limited, Binocular Type CN15, No 368.When viewed objectively there is a rainbow type flaw to the edge of one lens, a few small spots and they may benefit from a clean internally, when viewed normally there are a few small edge chips visible in the left hand eyepiece, a tiny scratch to the right eyepiece lens and they have general wear from use, please see all photos, otherwise all focusing and width adjustment operate smoothly and the image is bright and clear.This rare pair of binoculars would probably benefit from a service and they would make a great addition to any optical or militaria collection.I will post worldwide, please email for overseas postage rates before bidding.Good luck.
