Perhapsbetter known for their astronomical telescopes, VIXEN has a strongreputation for good quality instruments at good value prices, but areprobably better known in North America and mainland Europe than theU.K. Certainly I have always been impressed with their scopes andbinoculars and have had several in my collection at various times. Thislisting is for a VIXEN GEOMA65 fieldscope or spotting scope. (VIXENand NIKON like to use the term `fieldscope`,) Fitted with a 25x wideangle eyepiece, this GEOMA performs very well I have used itsearching for rarer gulls on the pig fields near my home and it hasgiven very clear and bright images. This is quite a lightweight scopeand handles very well. It features fully multi coated optics, asliding lens hood and has both lens caps and still comes with itsoriginal box. One `defect` it shows may be a blessing in disguise;the lens hood surface is mixtureof bothrough and shiny…i strongly suspect that the original finish hasbecome `sticky` – quite a common problem, and a previous owner hasremoved this stickylayerwith a solvent of some kind leaving an unusual finish…but NOT asticky one! The GEOMA is supplied with a FAMEART tripod with quickrelease mount and spirit level. This tripod has a maximum workingheight of 60 (1.52 metres) and shows absolutely no sign of anyprevious use at all!
