Vintage W Ottway & Co Orion Spotter Telescope.

It measures 12.5″ or 32cm folded up and 18.5″ or 47cm extended fully.

Overall it is in nice condition – the stitching on the leather all seems pretty intact.

It does have a couple of issues however.

1) The end piece unscrews and reverses for a different focus, but there’s a dent in the far end, so that it won’t screw on the other way round.

2) the lens has a chip and a large crack in it.

I have photographed these closely so you can clearly see the problems.

Interestingly, the focus is still not too bad on the telescope – it’s quite cloudy but the crack doesn’t appear on the image, rather oddly. 

It’s still a lovely telescope.
