These rare Carl Zeiss 10x50W binoculars were produced solely for the West German market.
The East German Jena factory competed for optics sales against Carl Zeiss West Oberkochen with these particularly high quality binoculars.
Although for all sales outside of West Germany Jena DDR was permitted to use the shared Carl Zeiss logo. Inside of West Germany Jena DDR was legally forbidden to use the Carl Zeiss logo. To challenge and bypass this restriction, Zeiss Jena DDR produced the outstanding VEB CARL ZEISS Jena ausJENA JENOPTEM 10X50W.

The unique branding on these limited edition binoculars reflects an era of dispute and conflict over the Carl Zeiss logo usage in West Germany. Only a limited amount with this branding were made for the small West German market.
With a small target market, these 10X50W are particularly rare as numbers in circulation are incredibly low. For any collectors of historic Zeiss these are a must have item to add to your collection.They are in great shape, smooth, clean and sharp. The serial number is 4362604 and the central post has ‘Made in DDR’ stamped on it, they were made in 1975/6.These have been rarely used and the wear is minimal and slight.The optics are really clear with no blemishes or marks and the collimation is perfect.
The straps and original case are in working condition condition, the case does have some letters lightly stenciled on the inside which is barely visible.
