Pair of Swarovski Habicht 7x42binoculars, strap and case, seller refurbished. Eminently usable classicporro-prism binoculars in the useful 7×42 size for good light gatheringability, with a relatively wide angle of view. This model is still made todayand in the black leather finish retails at 589.00, seehttps://www.cliftoncameras.co.uk/Swarovski-Habicht-7×42–Binoculars-Black-Leather My interest in photography has meantthat over the years Ive attempted, sometimes successfully, the repair andrefurbishment of cameras, and since retiring a few weeks ago have tried my handat binoculars. I was fortunate enough to find this pair of Swarovski Habicht7x42 porro prism binoculars that were in good optical condition, but thevulcanite and painted parts were in poor shape. Ebay provided a supplier of thenecessary adhesive and leatherette, and the local craft shop the paints. Pleasenote Im including the remaining cloth (about 150mm x 75mm), and adhesive inthe sale. All of the flaking and disbandedvulcanite was removed and the bare metal carefully cleaned up before cuttingand fitting the leatherette using the special adhesive supplied. Trying to finda suitable paint proved more difficult as the alloy bridges were roughenedthrough exposure and I didnt want to abrade the metal. I settled on a flatblack paint, which while not original looks OK and is functional. The coatings on the eyepieces are good,but there are just one or two very, very fine marks on the beautiful deeppurple coatings both objectives. Reverse viewing with strong backlighting showsthat there is what is probably prism coating defects on the very edge of thefield in both tubes, but it extends to no more than 5% and cannot be seen innormal use. Focussing is beautifully smooth, andthe bridge hinges glide with just the right amount of resistance. The dioptreadjustment is fine too. The case is missing its strap, you cansee that the ring attachments have failed. The intertwined DS logo, for the companyfounder Daniel Swarovski, and the Made in Austria text is clearly visible.  I have included several high resolutionphotographs to help you assess the condition, but if there’s something thatI’ve missed please let me know and I’ll do my best to provide you with an appropriatephotograph.  For reassurance please read my 1100+feedback comments to see what others have said about my descriptions, packagingand delivery.      I’m happy to accept PayPal and personalcheques in British Pounds drawn on UK bank, or direct bank transfer in Pounds.       Postage is based upon the actual weight of the item, which is 900 grams,plus an allowance of 500 grams for robust and adequate packaging.
