 This a rare pair of Binoculars, they are seldom seen in this format. The Binoculars are the Ross of London ‘Spectaross’ 8 x 40’s and were adapted for use by people people who use spectacles.
You will see from the pictures that they have peculiarities to assist the spectacle user. Firstly there is a rubber protrusion between the eye cups which is a bridge. Secondly, each of the eye cups has a sleeve which extend to facilitate their use.
The serial number of these binoculars is 12611 which correspond to the mid 1950s. At 60 years old, the condition of these binoculars is pretty good – there are no major areas of damage ( you will notice that one eye cup has faded to a different shade than the other ). I am no binocular expert but the view through this pair is pretty good – could probably do with a service to clean the interior parts but the vision is sharp and the focusing is smooth.
The only other thing to note is that some of the seams on the case have perished – the leather is still good so could be a easy repair.
This pair of binoculars also carries the Wallace Heaton  mark – retailer to the British Royal family
