Pair of Ross Bino Prism no 5 Mk2 7x50mm military binoculars with graticules, probably post war model, unusual as they are unpainted with brass objective covers and centre bar, have been told these would have been a deck or bridge officers pair but not certain of that, i’m sure someone will correct me if i’m wrong
Optics are in good condition when viewed in reverse there is no damage to the lens or prisms and they are in good collomanation ,there is however dust present and some light patches of mildew as would be expected given their age, view through them is sharp but with a very light haze graticules are sharp and clear both eyepieces focus smoothly, as can be seen in photo,s there are two pieces of body covering missing, and general wear as would be expected for their age these would be a good project for someone and would look well with the brass and alloy parts polished and the body recovered and an internal clean.
For your interest Bino Prism Binoculars were produced by a company named Birmingham Industries a company set up by Ross optical and a partner to produced optical equipment for the UK, armed forces during the 2nd world war and beyond, all the optics and many of the body parts were produced at Ross,s own works the above being used primarily for assembly.
